1.Finding a Team

  1. Players who do not already have a Team may use the optional KFL Pair & Team Finder.
  2. Applications close at 23:59 UTC on Sunday 20 September. KFL will try to introduce groups of three to five compatible applicants, but a match is not guaranteed.
  3. Proposed members should reply to the introduction email by 18:00 UTC on Wednesday 23 September and confirm whether they agree to play together.
  4. A Finder introduction does not create the Team. Every member still needs an individual KFL account, and one player must create the Team, invite the others and schedule the game.

2.Creating a Team

  1. One player creates the Team, chooses its name and becomes captain.
  2. Invite members using the email addresses attached to their KFL accounts. Invitations appear under Teams on the website, not in email inboxes.
  3. Each invited player must accept before joining the registered roster.
  4. The roster may contain up to eight, but only three to five may actively participate. KFL recommends a festival roster of three to five.
  5. Existing larger KFL Teams do not need a separate entry. Captaincy or membership changes require KFL help; the roster is fixed after round 1 begins.

3.Scheduling

  1. The Team must schedule before Play appears. Only the captain may schedule or reschedule.
  2. Members agree privately; separate website approval is not required.
  3. The lobby opens at the scheduled time. The Team may begin later but never earlier.
  4. Rescheduling is permitted while enough festival time remains.

4.Lobby and attendance

  1. The captain and at least two other registered members must be signed in and present before a round begins.
  2. The captain presses Start Quiz for round 1.
  3. A fourth or fifth registered player may join at any time, including during a timed round.
  4. A sixth, seventh or eighth roster member cannot participate actively in the same game.

5.Communication and typist

  1. Members may play remotely or in the same room. Voice or video communication is recommended; KFL Discord provides voice channels.
  2. The captain is the default typist in round 1. Later rounds begin with whoever finished the previous round as typist.
  3. Only the typist edits answers. All logged-in active members see questions and typed text in real time.
  4. The typist may transfer control repeatedly to another active member using the top-right control.
  5. Platform chat may be used for spellings. Screen sharing is allowed but normally unnecessary.
  6. Every question should be discussed as a Team. Only active registered members may contribute.

6.Playing the rounds

  1. Five rounds of 20 general-knowledge questions are played in order, with ten minutes per round.
  2. Every Team receives the same questions in the same order.
  3. The typist may submit early; time expiry submits automatically.
  4. Members see the completed round and its provisional score.

7.Review and breaks

  1. All active members see the review, but the typist controls challenges and navigation.
  2. Challenge rejected answers before leaving the round.
  3. After rounds 1–4, the typist presses Next Round when the Team is ready.
  4. Breaks are untimed. At least three registered players, including the captain, must return before the next round begins.

8.Disconnections and unfinished games

  1. If one member disconnects while three remain, the Team continues normally.
  2. If attendance falls below three during an active round, the timer and round continue. Three are required again before the next round.
  3. If the typist disconnects, transfer control where possible and report a verified failure if transfer is unavailable.
  4. If the Team cannot reassemble before closing, unplayed rounds score zero and the completed-round total becomes its official score.

9.Completion and results

  1. After round 5, review and challenge rejected answers. The typist then presses Submit for Review, even when there are no challenges.
  2. During the festival, only individual round scores are shown, not the five-round total.
  3. The maximum score is 100. Current standings display the Team name, score and position, not the member list.
  4. The top three Teams are recognized collectively. Equal scores share a position and no tie-breaker is used.

Submit for Review completes the Team entry. There is no third submission.
